I have been hearing a lot since I arrived here in Pattaya. In Flagstaff I was used to hear train whistles at night (until recently, that is...).
Here, the sounds are much different.
It is normal to hear the bar girls hoot and holler as you walk by, hoping to get your attention and business...
It is normal to be asked, "taxi, madam? taxi?" when step out of the hotel or apartment...
It is normal to be woken up in the middle of the night to loud music, shouting, or laughter coming from the bars on the street right outside your window...
It is normal to hear men talk with women about what services they can get for 100 or 200 baht. These conversations can take place on the street, or in the booth behind you at the local mall...
